Proud to share the completion of this purpose‑designed generator work platform, engineered and manufactured by Austeng to support the assembly and maintenance of large wind turbine generators.

The platform provides safe, full‑circumference access for personnel working around the generator and rotor support ring during critical assembly operations, while also incorporating dedicated handling and working features to streamline workflow on site.

This was a highly specialised design with a number of unique engineering requirements, including:
All non‑ferrous construction, specifically engineered to operate safely around the powerful magnetic fields within the generator
Complex geometry, featuring a circular internal profile to suit the generator envelope, combined with an external polygonal (hexagonal) structure for strength and modular segmentation
Fully modular architecture, allowing the entire platform to be disassembled and packed into two standard 40 ft shipping containers for efficient transport between sites
• A custom integrated work table, designed to support on‑platform tooling and assembly tasks at working height
• A custom roll‑over gate and pallet landing, enabling controlled material transfer onto the platform while maintaining edge protection and operator safety
• Designed and manufactured to comply with Australian Standards (AS 1657) for platforms, walkways and stair systems

Delivered end‑to‑end — from detailed engineering and 3D modelling through to fabrication, test assembly and documentation — this project showcases Austeng’s capability to deliver highly bespoke, safety‑critical equipment for the renewable energy sector.

Each gangway is tailored to suit the specific needs of the vessel, jetty or pier height, and tidal conditions. Our designs range from spring-loaded and counterbalanced systems to fixed and fully portable units. Pictured below is our latest 14.6-metre portable gangway, built to order. Austeng has helped develop RenewOak’s process of rejuvenating wine barrels that ordinarily would be discarded after four or five years. The RenewOak process uses an abrasive slurry to “sand” internal surfaces without dismantling the barrel. The chemical free process removes all barrel residues along with a fine layer of oak, leaving a clean finish ready to impart the desired properties into the wine.

Austeng has designed and built an automated, mobile unit to allow it to be taken from winery to winery. Not only does the process extend the life of barrels, it reduces the environmental impact of barrel use and provides huge economic benefits to the wine industry by making it more globally efficient.

Austeng Managing Director Ross George said that the RenewOak technology had the potential to launch around the world. Please see attached article from the Geelong Advertiser, and to learn more please check out the RenewOak Website.

High Temperature gas diverter valve 3 way

Austeng manufactured customised high temperature (550°C) three-way exhaust gas modulating diverter valves for co-generation application in mining context with extreme ambient/operating conditions.

This ground-breaking valve has a full-face 100% positive seal and has advantages in terms of preventing excess heat load reaching absorption chiller in by-pass position thus better protecting expensive chiller equipment.

The valves are engineered to withstand detonation pressures of up to 700kPa in the event of an unburnt fuel explosion.

Austeng workd closely with Air Solutions Pty. Ltd. to develop this innovative solution.

Austeng was pleased to assist landscaping architects Garden Consultants in designing and manufacturing customised striking ‘brain-explosion’ sculpture including ringing bells and whirly gig, curved amphitheater structure posts and two slides in the recent opening of the local One World for Children Day Care Centre’s refurbished garden and play spaces, see photos of play equipment below.

“Thanks so much for your help, knowledge and enthusiasm.  The garden looks spectacular if i do say and the slides and sculpture really set it off.  it has been really great working with you and I will certainly be back soon.” – Gavin Pocock, Garden Consultants.

Fire Training Simulator

Manufacture & customisation of various fire training simulation equipment for Dutch based company Haagen.  These are stand alone gas fired units that can be positioned virtually anywhere around the training site.  The equipment included the following scenarios:- car fire, industrial (electrical motor fire, gas cylinder fire) and domestic (couch, TV & store fires) containers.  As well as flame generation the equipment has embedded options for smoke generation & sound effects.
