ROSS GEORGE

Managing Director

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours, Melbourne University. Commenced his career as a Project Engineer and established Austeng over 25 years ago. Ross brings novel engineering design, flair and innovative thought to projects.  He is also responsible for the overall direction of the company and heads the Estimating Department.

Ross has been inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australian in recognition of his engineering achievements and leadership in the profession.

LYN GEORGE

Corporate Director

Bachelor of Laws with Honours, Melbourne University. Background experience in commercial litigation. Performs legal and managerial functions within the company. Her legal background and communications skills add commercial depth to the company. Has been instrumental in Austeng’s transition to new areas of advanced manufacturing.

Over the 2020 Queen’s Birthday weekend, Lyn was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of her contribution to Australian manufacturing and unwavering leadership throughout Geelong’s transformation into a world-renowned hub in advanced manufacturing.

Since formally joining Austeng in 1993 Lyn has grown increasingly passionate abour manufacturing and the benefits it brings to employment, innovation, environment and community. Lyn has become a driving force to grow manufacturing in the region, raise public profile and attract new talent into the industry. This has manifested in many ways including taking up volunteer rolls in key regional industry groups and organisations including,

In the past seven years Lyn has also become an advocate for transformative start-ups in manufacturing. She has helped innovators, designers and inventors devise bespoke, cost-effective solutions to their manufacturing needs. As a result, many have grown into thriving businesses. She is a founding director of two start-up companies namely Capricorn Power and FormFlow.

Lyn is a standout example for women in manufacturing especially considering her training and background in Corporate Law specialising in Federal and Supreme Court litigation.

MARCUS COWIE

General Manager

A mechanical engineer from Monash University. Marcus joined the company in 1994 and has worked on a variety of projects in design, mechanical, electrical and programming capacities as well as project management. As General Manager he is responsible for the smooth running of projects through the various departments.

RUSSELL BROWN

Projects Engineer

Russell has both a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Honours) as well as a Master of Business Administration. Twenty-eight years of exposure in the manufacturing environment (Ford Motor Co.) has provided Russell with a solid grounding in safety, quality, production, finance, maintenance, environment and design systems. At Austeng Russell’s role is in machine design, processing work and project management.

DAVID HABGOOD

Service Manager / Electrical Engineer

He graduated from the Monash University with a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (Hons). He heads the Service Department specialising in crematoria clients. David also heads our Electrical Engineering department with experience in PLC control systems and a passion to implement IOT/ Industry 4.0 into our machines.

DYLAN MAYSON

Mechanical Engineer

Dylan graduated from Deakin University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) with a prior mechanical trade background. He manages maintenance support for wide range of our client’s plant and equipment. Dylan also provides mechanical engineering, design and project management support to Austeng projects.

LUKE SMITH

Projects Engineer/Estimator

He graduated from RMIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons). Luke has gained significant experience over the lst few years in all aspects of project management. Together with Ross and Tim, Luke forms our Estimating Department and handle enquiries and project engineering from initial inception up until the design and/or manufacturing stage.

TIM CLEARY

Projects Engineer / Estimator

Tim graduated from Swinburne University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) and Business. He assists Ross and the rest of the team within our Estimating Department. Tim continues to gain project management experience from design conception through to manufacture and installation.

RUSSELL GEORGE

Project Engineer

Russell designs and delivers projects from the initial concept phase to design development and through to overseeing production quality and commissioning. Before joining Austeng, Russell had over four years experience as mechanical engineer and designer and has worked for leading building services engineering & consultancy firms  (NDY & KBR) within Melbourne across many industries including; infrastructure, transportation, commercial, retail, residential, education and agriculture.

He is  a graduate from Melbourne University (B.Sci/Masters Eng).

CARL TOMCZAK

Project Engineer

Carl is a mechanical engineer from the University of Melbourne (B.Sci/Masters Eng).  Whilst at Austeng he has gained experience in working on projects, amongst other things, within the food manufacturing and green tech sector thereby expanding his range of skills.

SEAN JAHNECKE

Project Engineer

After graduating from a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering (Mechanical with Business) with Distinction at the University of Melbourne, Sean gained experience in the dairy and food processing industry before joining Austeng. Since then, Sean has gained further experience including estimating, engineering calculations, finite element analysis, as well as  developing conceptual designs and detailed workshop drawings for a range of projects.

MARK GUSTKE

Draftsman

Mark is a Mechanical Design Draftsman with over 40 years experience in manufacturing, across various industries. Working alongside our engineering team Mark has been involved in numerous Austeng design and build projects over the years, and now brings his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm to us on a permanent basis.

BRAD HUTTON

Project Manager

Brad has worked in the company for more than 20 years, having completed his trade apprenticeship with us. Brad’s organisational and time management skills ensures our equipment is manufactured, delivered and is commissioned promptly with a minimum of fuss. His depth of experience and trade background in sheet metal plus his exposure to the trade areas of boiler making, fitting and electrical bring a good balance to the management team.

TIM VAN SLAGEREN

Furnace Specialist and “A” Grade Electrician

Has worked on our furnaces for over 15 years. He now project manages our furnace installation projects and up-grades.

JOHN GEORGE

Consultant

One of the original shareholders and engineers. Over 40 years experience in innovative engineering and management he is now a consultant, thus helping to maintain his legacy of engineering excellence.
