DAVIS GEORGE
Business Development.
I am a strategic and commercially focused business development professional at Austeng, where I work to identify growth opportunities, build industry partnerships, and position the company as a trusted engineering partner for complex and innovative projects.
At Austeng, I focus on connecting ideas with execution—working with clients, researchers, and industry partners to translate concepts into practical, buildable solutions. This includes supporting early-stage engagement, shaping project opportunities, and helping clients navigate the path from design through to fabrication, integration, and delivery.
Prior to joining Austeng, I was a Senior Consultant at Consulting & Implementation Services (CIS), specialising in research commercialisation and large-scale innovation programs. I led the formation of the Hemp Collaborative Research Centre, bringing together over 60 industry and research partners and securing $46.9 million in industry commitments. My work also included securing government funding, advising Rural Development Corporations and Drought Hubs, and working alongside venture capital firms and accelerators to bring emerging technologies to market.
This experience has given me a strong understanding of the full innovation lifecycle—from early-stage research and funding through to commercial deployment—which directly aligns with Austeng’s role in bridging the gap between concept and real-world implementation.
Earlier in my career, I gained experience in venture capital at M.H. Carnegie & Co., evaluating early-stage businesses and emerging technologies. I have also co-founded and scaled a tourism business in Cusco, Peru, where I developed the business model, built partnerships, and delivered customer-focused operations in a highly competitive market.
I have contributed to economic modelling and commercialisation strategies for major Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs), supporting successful funding outcomes and cross-sector collaboration across industry, government, and academia.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Finance from The University of Melbourne.
At Austeng, I bring together commercial acumen, innovation experience, and a practical mindset to help clients move faster—from idea to outcome.
